Old Leysian Lodge No 4520

Freemasons Hall, Bateman Street, Cambridge, CB2 1NA

The Lodge was formed on 12th February 1923 and met at Great Queen Street London until 1979 when it moved to Mark Masons Hall. The Lodge moved to Cambridge in 1991. One of our founders was Joseph (J) Arthur Rank. Over the years many of our Members arrive as visitors from other Lodges as a result of receiving a friendly welcome and although many have ties with the Leys School, Cambridge (founded 1875) being an old boy is no longer a requirement for Lodge membership and we welcome a wide variety of professions and trades from East Anglia and beyond.

27 plus 8 Honorary Members.

The Lodge meets 4 times a year on the First Tuesday in March, Second Wednesday in May, Second Friday in September and the last Friday in November.

As we have a number of senior Past Masters we are always more than willing to talk to potential members about Freemasonry and have been able to assist our new Members to enable them to more easily integrate and feel welcome with our traditions. This is often done on a one to one basis. We have for many years supplied the Leys School with two prizes for nominated students and these are presented at our School supper meeting where their teachers also attend. As a result of this we are able to maintain our close relationship with the School and happily some of the prize-winners have subsequently joined our Lodge.

As is clear from our Membership, we welcome those of all faiths, occupations and ages. We consider membership as a long term choice which is confirmed by our existing Members. We of course welcome new Members and more experienced joining Members. Membership of Old Leysian Lodge provides opportunities to meet with and enjoy the company of, a wide cross-section of the community in a friendly atmosphere.
