Gift Aid Envelope (GAE) Collections
Gift Aid envelopes are an excellent vehicle for enhancing the value of cash or cheque collections by allowing tax to be reclaimed. The Relief Chest scheme supplies envelopes and they are available from the Festival Team & Masonic Centre Representatives.
Gift Aid Envelopes can be used in various ways - such as:
- Sent with the Summons
- Used as the lodge collection
- At ‘White Table’ meetings & other events
When used for lodge Collections, putting envelopes on the chairs in the Lodge Room prior to the meeting gives Brethren an opportunity to complete them in advance of their collection. However, to ensure that the envelopes are completed correctly, the Charity Steward should explain how this should be done beforehand. Unused envelopes can be collected afterwards.
Completion Instructions
Each donor should complete the tear off slip on the GAE and if they wish to Gift Aid the donation ensure they complete:
- Full name
- Address
- Date
- Tick the relevant box
The Treasurer &/or Charity Steward (preferably both together) should count the contents of the GAEs and ensure that the amounts agree with the amount entered on the tear off slip
