Community Support from Fenland Freemasons

 |

The Fenland Farmers Lodge have donated £650 to Facet, a local Charity based at Marwick Centre, March which provides training and day centre care opportunities to adults with a range of disabilities. Facet also has a shop to sell a mix of crafts made by the students, plants grown by the students and also wooden items made in the workshop, which gives students work experience in the workplace and encourages independence.

The lodge has also donated £650 to The Light Project in Peterborough, which works in partnership with and alongside with support from church communities, civic powers and community groups, helping the homeless in and around Peterborough. The charity is focussed on sustainable living within the community – it provides support, friendship and a place to stay and offers residents other services such as healthcare, support in job searches and benefit advice.

Meanwhile Freemasons in Ely were invited to a Garden Party and tree planting ceremony at Ely’s Lily House Residential Home by the Activities Coordinator, Mrs Joanne Swift. Thanks to the generosity of the members of the four Ely Lodges a ‘Cercis Canadencis’ Hearts of Gold tree was prominently planted in the gardens and a plaque to commemorate the occasion was also placed in position.

Joanne said “I’m delighted that sufficient funds have been donated by the Ely Freemasons to allow additional planting to be carried out in the gardens”.
