Thirty-Five local charities have received a total of £150k in donations from Cambridgeshire Freemasons, thanks to the generosity of The City and University of Cambridge Masonic Charitable Trust and the Province of Cambridgeshire Charity for Care and Relief, alongside contributions from the Masonic Charitable Foundation. The donations were made at Cambridge’s Masonic Hall during an event to celebrate community engagement which also included a guided tour of the building.
Emma Joy-Staines CEO & Co Founder of Steel Bones expressed her gratitude by saying “Steel Bones is incredibly grateful to the Cambridgeshire Masons for their generous £500 donation. This funding will support the launch of a weekly fitness club for amputees in Cambridgeshire and Suffolk, serving 5–10 individuals each week. The impact will be profound, helping to reduce isolation, boost self-esteem, build confidence, and ensure that no local amputee feels alone or without the support they need to thrive.”
Cambridge Cyrenians also benefited from the donations, James Martin, Director emphasised “The generous donation from Cambridgeshire Freemasons will guarantee that Cambridge Cyrenians can continue to provide its Older Homeless Service, ensuring people who have move-on from homelessness do not return to the streets and are able to live independently and thrive in their own homes.”
Bill Dastur, Leader of Cambridgeshire Masons, outlined the organisation’s commitment to charity, integrity, and community engagement, saying “Service and Friendship are two of the core values of Freemasonry, we are proud to support our local charities. When we concentrate our efforts and work with the community we can make a meaningful impact.”
