Caldwell Lodge Trafalgar Day white table meeting

 |

In October, Caldwell Lodge celebrated its annual Trafalgar Day white table meeting at March Masonic Hall.

Following a brief Lodge meeting, members joined their wives, partners, and non-Masonic guests in the bar for a traditional tot of rum. Bro. Richie Lawrence gave an engaging explanation of the naval custom of “Splicing the Mainbrace” and kindly provided bottles of British Navy Pusser’s Rum for the occasion.

Guests then enjoyed a superb three-course dinner, attended by around 70 brethren and guests. The Lodge was honoured by the presence of 99-year-old Colin Turner, a former Torpedo Man on HMS Belfast and father-in-law of the Worshipful Master, W.Bro. John Roberts.

After the toasts, W.Bro. Steve Teverson delivered a fascinating and entertaining after-dinner address on “Lord Nelson’s Family Life and the Battle of Trafalgar”, which was very well received by all present.

The evening’s raffle raised an impressive £415, which was donated to the March Veterans Hub, whose representatives were warmly welcomed on the night.
