Members of Descensus Aquarum Lodge No. 8655 recently visited Soham Men’s Shed following the Lodge’s donation made after the Shed suffered a break-in and loss of tools in November.
In January, Worshipful Master W.Bro. Brent Kiddie, accompanied by W.Bro. John Sinclair, W.Bro. Martin Rose, and Bro. Michael Neave, visited the Shed to see how members were progressing and how the donation had helped support their recovery.

The visit highlighted the positive impact of the support received. Soham Men’s Shed was clearly thriving, operating as a busy and welcoming hub that provides companionship, purpose, and enterprise for its members. During the visit, members were actively recycling materials and carrying out improvements to the building, with a strong sense of community evident throughout.
The Lodge was able to see how its donation, along with generous contributions from the wider Soham community, enabled the Shed not only to replace the stolen electric tools, but also to significantly improve site security. Enhancements included the installation of a roller shutter door with secure locking and security cameras. In addition, essential building repairs and the installation of a new ceiling in the workshop were underway.

The new electric tools and batteries, neatly stored in a wooden rack crafted by a member of the Shed, were also on display. Lodge members were shown around the workshop by Howard Laver, who pointed out the recent improvements and ongoing work.
