Provincial Wardens’ circuit swindle boosts Maggie’s appeal by £550

 |

In the Masonic Province of Cambridgeshire, one of our long-standing traditions is the circuit. During each Lodge Installation ceremony, the reigning Masters of other Lodges are invited as guests, along with the active Provincial Wardens, W. Bro. David Kirkham, ProvSGW, and W. Bro. Peter Crussell, ProvJGW.

At the festive board, the evening always concludes with the Tyler’s Toast, but of course, the exact time is anyone’s guess. This is where our Provincial Wardens step in with the ever-popular “swindle,” inviting diners to predict the timing of the toast for just £1 (or occasionally a little more, depending on their persuasive skills!).

As always, every penny collected is donated to a worthy cause. With the Maggie’s charity appeal drawing to a close, the Wardens have generously directed this year’s proceeds to the ProvGM, R.W.Bro. William Charles Mason, Dastur, in support of the Maggie’s fund.

Thanks to the enthusiasm and good humoured support of brethren across the Province, a wonderful total of £550 has been raised.

Thank you to all who took part, a small tradition making a meaningful difference.
