A Christmas Gift for the Ferry Project

Wisbech Freemasons have donated £500 to the Ferry Project charity, an award-winning social enterprise which helps homeless people in Fenland.

The charity’s aim is not simply to provide accommodation, but to give people the skills they need to enable them to live independently.  These include life skills such as cooking and cleaning, education courses, vocational training, volunteering and employment opportunities.

The Ferry Project currently provides up to fifty bed spaces in Wisbech and engages with over three hundred clients a year.  It is the largest provider for homelessness-related issues in the district, engaging with an estimated eighty percent of those who find themselves homeless in Fenland.

Moira Pollard, Operations Manager for the Ferry Project, said, “We are so grateful to receive this wonderful gift.  Without the support of the public, we would not be able to continue our work.  Receiving gifts like this really does help save lives and make the Christmas period just that little extra special for those who have no one. Thank you for thinking of us, it really does make a difference”.

Andrew Pallant, from Wisbech Freemasons said, “We are very pleased to support Moira and her team at the Ferry Project, especially as the Festive Season is approaching and the needs of others come into particular focus”.
