Alma Mater Lodge, in Cambridge, have donated £500 to the Cambridge Acorn Project, which carries out therapeutic work with children and families connected to issues around stress, trauma, attachment and social justice. The Moon Project was set up as a response to COVID-19. The pandemic has been traumatising and frightening for many children, young people and their families and the Moon Project helps support them through this trauma.
Matt Edge, Chief Operating Officer of the Cambridge Acorn Project said, “The generous contributions of the Cambridgeshire Freemasons will enable us to support three additional cases. These young people would not have received an intervention if it was not for your funding. It has fulfilled a direct need and will be spent on frontline services for children and young people who have experienced adversity.
This funding has been deeply appreciated as the need for this project continues to grow. 129 children and young people have been referred so far since August last year and the numbers continue to grow as the need from the pandemic is now becoming clearer and there are, at present, large numbers of children and young people coming forward for support.
Thank you very much indeed to everyone at Cambridgeshire Freemasons for all your support to our project throughout the past year.”
David Adams of Alma Mater Lodge said, “Charity is one of the core values of Freemasonry and so we are delighted that our latest donation to support our community will allow the Cambridge Acorn Project to help these young people in need.”
The donation was coordinated by Alma Mater Lodge and included match funding from Cambridgeshire’s Masonic Charity for Care & Relief and a grant from the national Masonic Charitable Foundation.
