Gray Lodge No 4334

Freemasons’ Hall, Huntingdon Rd, Chatteris PE16 6ED

The Lodge was formed in Chatteris in 1921 to serve those who live or work in the town and surrounding area. Residency, or other local connection, has never been a qualification for membership, and we have several Members who do not have any local ties but joined to have access to a new social circle. Similarly, as a country Lodge we have no ties to any particular establishment or tradition, and we draw our membership from all professions and trades from a wide area.

The Lodge currently has 46 full Members, nearly a quarter of which have joined in the last 5 years.

Regular Lodge meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of October to April inclusive.

We strive to present a high standard of ritual while tempering this with having fun at our meals afterwards. Whilst we feel it is important to maintain old traditions we do like to introduce new elements to give a ‘wow’ factor to our meetings. We like to think that we are welcoming and inclusive and we make sure our new members are well mentored and supported. This includes an active lodge of instruction on most Wednesdays at 7.30pm, when there is no other meeting. We are particularly noted as a ‘friendly’ Lodge and many visitors attend every meeting with many joining us as Members themselves.

We are active involving family and friends in our events encouraging them to feel part of the Lodge. The Master (Chairman) for the year arranges his social calendar with one eye on previously successful events and one on innovative and novel events. We are justifiably proud of our reputation as a Lodge which has charity at its heart. We support many charitable causes (Masonic and non-Masonic) on both a local and national level, recognising that we are an integral part of the local community.

We welcome those of all faiths, occupations & ages who meet the criteria for membership. We consider membership as a long-term life choice and strive to make new members settle in quickly and be happy with their choice as well as the existing membership being happy with them. To this end we will provide opportunities for prospective members to meet with a cross-section of the membership before the formal process of joining.
