Fenland Meridian Lodge No 9858

The Masonic Hall, City Rd, March PE15 9LS

Background: The Lodge was formed in March in 2011 to serve those who live or work in the Fenland area. Residency, or other local connection, has never been a qualification for membership, and many of our Members do not have any local ties but joined as a daytime Lodge suited them. Similarly, as a country Lodge we have no ties to any particular establishment or tradition, and we draw our membership from all professions and trades from a wide area. The Lodge was formed to serve the needs of those who wanted to conduct their Masonry in the daytime, or for whom, by reason of age or otherwise, evening meetings were difficult. Although it is true to say most Members have this as an additional Lodge, we would welcome Candidates for whom daytime meetings would suit.

The Lodge currently has 30 full Members.
The Lodge meets on the 4th Tuesday in November, February and April, usually 10.30am; installation in February. Based at the Masonic Hall, City Rd., March. PE15 9LS, but meetings are sometimes held at the Freemasons’ Halls at Chatteris, Whittlesey or Wisbech.
We differ considerably from traditional evening Lodges in that at our November and April meetings we welcome wives, partners and other non-Masons to our lunchtime meal, before which a speaker or other presenter is invited to inform and entertain us all. We aim to finish around 3pm to give ample time to arrive home in daylight. It is fair to say we pride ourselves on being a relaxed and friendly Lodge which is family orientated and a way of sharing our Masonry with our wives, partners and guests. This has proved so popular that visitors, whether Masons or not, usually far outnumber the Members present.
Charity is a fundamental part of Freemasonry and we support many charitable causes (Masonic and non-Masonic) on both a local and national level, recognising that we are an integral part of the local community.
We welcome those of all faiths, occupations & ages who meet the criteria for membership. We consider membership as a long-term life choice and strive to make new members settle in quickly and be happy with their choice as well as the existing membership being happy with them. To this end we will provide opportunities for prospective members to meet with a cross-section of the membership before the formal process of joining.
