The Porta Lodge 9511

Ely Masonic Hall, 47 Silver Street, Ely, Cambs., CB7 4FJ

The Porta Lodge was formed in 1993 and meets at the Ely Masonic Hall. It was formed as a school lodge for the King’s Ely school (formerly The King’s School). It encompasses all the friends of the school as well ‘old boys’ (Old Eleans), current and past masters, and family members of students at the school to meet and enjoy each other’s company.

We have over 40 members who come from a broad spectrum of backgrounds including academia, professional services, teaching, armed forces, engineering, farming and business. Many members have children or grandchildren at the school.
The lodge meets four times a year; first Friday of December, February and April and the second Friday in October. We have two additional practices per meeting.
Although the lodge is relatively new compared to some, we hold to a number of traditions including former pupils being permitted to wear their "Old Eleans" tie and holding our October meeting in black tie.
We are a very friendly, social, fun and charitable lodge. We have an annual black tie dinner and a Burns Night Supper, and also meet throughout the year and attend other events as a lodge both locally and within Cambridgeshire.

If you are interested in joining the Lodge, or finding out more, please contact us.
